Things to do in the Red City
13 January 2012
The summer heat has arrived in the Red City for awhile now and vacation season is upon us. Whether heading to Marrakech for a week of vacation or a quick weekend getaway, let Made in Medina show you the things you’ll want to include in your itinerary.
First of all, there’s no better way to discover the city than hopping aboard one of the red busses for an guided tour with Marrakech Tours. Tickets are valid for 24 hours and the audio guide to the city is great! Like in Paris or other cities around the world, enjoy the magnificent views of Marrakech from the open-air upper level.
If you prefer a more ecological option, hop on an electric bike, and with Rentbee, the prices are attractive. Let the agency show you the route from Koutoubia to the Palmeraie, a beautiful tour awaits you.
After either a bike or bus tour, Made in Medina suggests some rest and relaxation, and for that, head to one of the pools or private beaches in the city. Parc Aquatique Oasiria is the ideal place to kick back, relax and cool off.
For a more intimate setting for friends or couples, head to Beach Garden, spend the day, or afternoon, soaking up the sun on one of the deck chairs available for hire.
Whether here for a week or a weekend getaway, head to the Ourika Valley for a walk in the countryside. Jardin Bio Aromatique in Ourika offers strolls through its long rows of plantations and the discovery of plants, common or rare, visible from the Marrakech area.
And after you’ve relaxed a bit, head over to Les Sabots in the Ourika Valley for a horse-back ride. The competitive prices make the ride through the Ourika Valley that much more enjoyable.
No visit to Marrakech is complete without seeing the Chez Ali dinner show. Oriental dancers, acrobats, calvacades, folkloric music and more add to the grandiose atmosphere, all while dining on a feast of mechoui, couscous and tajines, in a traditional Berber tent of course. It’s an unforgettable night for children and adults alike!
