SOCIETY The strengthening of road safety and awareness of the public to the importance of the new Code of the road, are at the centre of the concerns of different stakeholders to Chichaoua and Marrakech, where the mobilization is size to celebrate February 18 current, national road safety day.

In this context, a round table dedicated to the awareness of citizens in the various modalities of the new Code of route was organized recently to Chichaoua, in preparation for the celebration of this day.

Speaking on this occasion, the Governor of the province of Chichaoua, Abdelfattah Lebjioui indicated that this new device is designed to combat the scourge of the road, he said, continues each year to make the victims among the innocent.

In addition to the tireless efforts by the provincial authorities, local elected officials and civil society actors to eradicate this phenomenon, it will be process to soon hold a series of meetings and campaigns across the different Pachaliks and circles within the province to better explain the aspects of this new code as well as the objectives of its implementationsaid Lebjioui.

At Marrakech, the Moroccan (CRM) Red Crescent Office organizes since 12 and 18 February current, a week of awareness on road safety.

The menu of this great event, is a series of activities, including training for the benefit of the citizens in the areas of road safety and the prevention of traffic accidents.

To instill in young school children a real education in this area, the organizers chose to conduct several actions on information and awareness, including painting workshops and other first aid as well as presentations and the projection of documentaries in relation to road safety.

Campaigns for donation of blood or information on "balanced diet", "the health of the mother and the child", "sexually transmitted infections (STIs)", "AIDS" and "the dangers of drugs" are also on the agenda of this event.

In a statement to the MAP, Salah Lakhouadra, regional coordinator Director of vocational training in first aid (CRM) indicated that the celebration of national road safety day is an opportunity for members of the Red Crescent to stop on the achievements of this institution at the levels of Marrakech and the region in the various areas of interventionincluding that of the awareness of citizens about the impact of road accidents.

He also called all of the users of the road to show vigilance and good citizenship, saying the promotion of training in the field of first aid and first aid.
