SPORT Since 2011, the rugby team in Marrakech was formed out of a group of friends sharing the same qualities.
Saturday morning, 10am, not far from Marjane, on the road to Agadir, in the distance we can hear instructions and loud laughter. Welcome to 'Parc des Princes d'Agadir', we are welcomed with open arms and we spot a few familiar city faces like Steve Verbeek from the Studio restaurant. Steve, Olivier and some parents are behind this team, who are not amateurs at all but big and muscly, moving fast around the field. The word Kosto, from the language of the youth and Kesh, the shortened name for our city, is the name of this team.
Kostokech also organizes humanitarian projects, the first will be a sports event in May, with a garden party after. The National Rugby veterans tournament will also be held in Marrakech on May 12, they also want to plan a tournament to collect equipment that will then be distributed to neighbourhoods to promote rugby in Morocco. In Morocco rugby is still a little known sport, football remains the number one sport and for now rugby sits in the shadows.
The Kostokech team hope to give you a good image of rugby while still having fun. To enlarge the 'Kosto family' which already has 65 members, visit their facebook page, good players are highly sort after.
