SOCIETY Public authorities are resolutely determined to work for the improvement of the regulatory framework governing the planning, said Sunday in Marrakech the Minister of Habitat, town planning and development of space, Taoufiq Hjira.
Speaking at a meeting-debate held under the theme: "Tools for planning and management of cities", in the presence of the wali Director General of the local authorities, Noureddine Boutayeb as well as the President of the Council of the region of Marrakech-Tensift Al Haouz, Hamid Narjiss, Mr. Hjira reiterated the commitment of the Government to combat the scourge of the unhealthy habitat which, he said, affects almost all cities of the Kingdom and is with the image of the country.
Aware of the strategic importance of urban planning, the Council of the region of Marrakech-Tensift Al Haouz took the initiative to hold three meetings on several issues relating to urban planning documents, procedures of authorities, the derogation to the control as well as instruments of intervention, he recalled.
These discussion meetings, held these days in Marrakech, Essaouira and Ben healing have been formulated a series of recommendations, said Mr. Hjira, giving "solemn commitment" of the Ministry of the Interior and the Habitat and urbanism to Ïuvrer for the implementation of these recommendations and in the shortest time.
Among the mentioned recommendations include, among other things, the establishment of an autonomous structure for the control of urban planning, the simplification of administrative procedures and the creation of a responsible for regional planning project tracking tool.
Other recommended proposals relate to the establishment of a public pole of urban development studies, land conservation in urban areas, the respect for the environment in the urban development projects, and implementation of interventions in urban planning tools.
Mr. Bouttayeb has focused on the support provided by the public authorities in the efforts to combat the unhealthy habitat, stressing the need to observe laws in force and to promote a constant review of the rules for better adaptation to the evolution experienced by the company.
Need to tackle the roots of evil, while mobilizing all society actors and stakeholders in planning, a growing sector, he said.
Mr. Narjiss, welcomed, for its part, the commitment displayed by the relevant ministerial departments and elected officials to address the challenges related to urbanization and the improvement of governance within this strategic sector.

Mr. Narjiss, also stressed the importance of the participatory and particularly pragmatic approach adopted to address the different issues related to urban planning.
And to add that the pooling of synergies and the mobilization of Central and regional governments is to strengthen the socio-economic progress and achievements, all-out, carried out under the guidance of S.M. King Mohammed VI.
According to the organizers of this thematic Conference, this meeting fits the reforms undertaken by the Kingdom to the consolidation of the democratic process and the building of a modern society capable of meeting the challenges of development and to ensure a decent life for citizens.
