SOCIETY One of the most important of the Muslim calendar will come soon!

It is during this holy month that every Muslim is deprived of food and water but also the practice of sexual relations from sunrise to the sunset except for pregnant women or breast-feeding, the children, young and less young women in the period of menstruation and persons in medical disability risking their lives. A real test for the soldier in the eyes of some, but for others an act of good faith vis à vis of God and a capabilities test or not to resist what is prohibited.

The real symbolism of this Act is to integrate in life patience, modesty and spirituality, qualities hard to acquire in daily life and which require much effort.

A bit of history to explain the origin of the Ramadan.

The word Ramadan comes from the Arabic name of the 9th for the twelve months of the lunar year and it is the 27th night of Ramadan that the revelation of the Koran is lowered on the Prophet Muhammad. This sacred month generally starts on the day following the onset of the new moon observed closely during the night of doubt, which explains that many countries begin to intervals with the Morocco days.

It is the first day of Chawal this month of fasting ends to make way for the ide saghir (the small feast) brings the family to see more or less a month after the ide kabir (the great feast of the sacrifice) which brings together the entire family for a great feast on traditional meals. This last day made reference to the Act of sacrifice of Prophet Abraham on his young son Ismael by agreeing to her throat on the order of God who has chosen at the last moment he put a sheep instead seen his sincerity and his total dedication. However other animals can replace sheep such as goat, cow or the RAM.

This religious episode is part of the history of the three monotheistic religions (Jewish, Catholic, and Muslim) while stating that for the first two religions is the son of Abraham, Issac, who failed to be throat. For the Jewish tradition this period is called Yom Kippur and for Catholics it is the season of lent. Both are more lax at the level of deprivation, but advocated the same symbolism of don self and full devotion to God.

It is unnecessary to specify that this year again the heat will be and whether this test proves be also difficult last year here in Marrakech.

Then good courage to all Muslims and those who want to try.
