SOCIETY The Morocco reveals its national Charter of the environment and sustainable development: A device for the management of resources, developed according to the wishes of his Majesty King Mohammed VI.

A regional meeting for consultation on the draft of the National Charter for the environment and sustainable development was held on 16 and 17 February in Marrakech. It is a space for reflection, debate and Exchange which brought together a broad panel of university professors, experts in environmental issues, institutional and socio-economic stakeholders from the provinces of the region of Marrakech-Tensift-Al Haouz. The participants announced that the Charter is intended to inaugurate a new era in the process of integration of the criteria of sustainable development in the environmental sector policies. At this stage, is to see that the Charter reflects "a social contract" between the Moroccans and their natural heritage.

Once developed, the National Charter of the environment and sustainable development aims to:

"-"Create a new dynamic and reaffirm that the preservation of the environment must be a permanent concern of all the Moroccans in the process of sustainable development of the Kingdom;

"-" Remember to that effect the basic principles of sustainable development and the environment, whose implementation is vital to consolidate the gains of the Kingdom;

"-"Set individual and collective of all Moroccans, responsibilities accordingly so that they are mobilized according to their activities. 1

For what is pole information and awareness, the http://www.charteenvironnement.ma/ site is available online to popularize, promote and introduce the vision of the Charter to Moroccan citizens. Until today, the site has recorded 34 646 visits. A fairly important figure reflecting the interest of the Moroccan give this Charter.

Marrakech has always hosted events dedicated to sustainable development. The region holds considerable environmental potential, that promote social and economic development both at the local and national levels. Indeed, the challenge consists of conciliation between economic development and the preservation of natural resources to ensure a healthy living environment. In this context, the city sewage treatment plant is the result of a public-private partnership. The know-how of Belgian Waterleau company brought a more ecological project, aimed at preserving Mother Nature. In addition, awareness was unveiled by the National Moroccan of tourism (ONMT) who work in partnership with the Travel Foundation, for the program each drop account. It is a free initiative of management of the water for hotels and houses in Marrakech and Essaouira hosts. This growing dynamic, without being the preserve of Marrakech, is supposed to encompass all areas of the region allowing them to exploit their potential for sustainable regional development.

After the time of projects and proposals for legislation, it is essential to encourage the proliferation of voluntary acts. Which acts, must be registered in a global objective for

"on present generations to meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their" 2
