"Marrakech, le départ" : La perception de Marrakech par Daniel Sibony l'enfant
Online on 19 February 2010 | Culture
CULTURE The novel "Marrakech, the departure" of Daniel Sibony is a reflection of the ochre city captured through the eyes of a child-loving the Sun and passion for "between".
This is the writer and psychoanalyst Moroccan Daniel Sibony has described his novel, in a Wednesday meeting in Casablanca.
Sibony has, at this meeting, under the theme: "Memories of the Morocco", organized by the French Institute of Casablanca, in the international Edition and the (SIEL) book Salon, exposed its positioning on the concepts of "nostalgia" and "exile" rebutting that his novel is an expression of nostalgia sites, child or other, or a regret to exile of any nature whatsoever.
Referring to the conditions in which it has laid this novel, the first in his career, literary essayist who has thirty-three essays and a play to his credit, the author recounts that he was lost, once again, in Marrakech, felt hurt and wondered if this beautiful city is slipping him in the hands.
Sibony tells how he bought a book and began to record on paper his feelings and what he knows of this city, for this book, subsequently, in a drawer.
Two years ago, it was revealed, continues, the manuscript to turn these thoughts and impressions in a new. But with so much so much enthusiasm, it found, in the end, with a novel he has baptized: "Marrakech, initially".
After the two main characters of this novel, whose names symbolize life and women brought together by a love story in the city ochre and who find themselves in the circumstances of a crime committed in this city, Sibony does not, however, denies the autobiographical novel dimension, not only in some of its parts.
The author, who shows that his novel evokes the exile, rises against value judgments on the exile and nostalgia, recalling an image, beautiful and responsible for a child happy and satisfied taking tea, sitting on a craft mat under the shade of a tree in the middle of Marrakech after to be sated in the nearest well water. It is one of the beautiful images reflecting, perhaps, better child nostalgia for the author who lives in France since the age of 13.
