PORTRAIT The thinker look and a smile to the lips, she waits for me, ready to answer my questions. Emblematic figure of Marrakech, Marie-Jeanne Combredet is a woman who is worth to be known. French name, but Moroccan heart, meeting with this lady, single path and the path to the thousand senteurs…
Born in Casablanca, where she lived much of his childhood, Marie-Jeanne fell under the spell of the Morocco from his young age. She remembers also often his family holiday on the beach of Bouznika, with emotion; and it wonderful memories of the first decade of his life, in his adopted country. Yet, even as a child, she left Casablanca to follow his parents. Sub-Saharan Africa, United States, Switzerland, and France, other horizons then open it, and away it landscapes in the Maghreb region for some time.
It will be years before the young woman returns to the Morocco, on vacation. It is at this time that she discovered Marrakech, its second city of heart. The atmosphere of the souks key deeply: the scents and colours of this space like no bouleverseront his life and career.Indeed, in 2007, she decided to settle in the ochre city, to open his shop " legacy Berber ". It leaves its perfume company based in France, to try his luck in the country of his childhood. She settled on the Majorelle Garden, place that she likes particularly. Marie-Jeanne is indeed very attached to the nature and the environment that surrounds it. It inspires him in his creations, and soothes him in his everyday life. It indicates to me elsewhere that landscapes favorite in this country, are "Lakes and arid landscapes", it is particularly beautiful.
His travels, true source of inspiration
All these places and their odors, helping to create products of quality, and very good it proposes two stores she owns in the city. She explains that she tries to use a maximum of natural materials, to preserve the best scents of these unique places. Many hotels, shops and individuals asking elsewhere to create perfumes of ambiances (candles fragrant, etc.), and Marie-Jeanne made, over the years, a specialty.But the creator is also exploring other horizons for his creations: she speaks to me of his travels in Thailand and India, which were particularly marked him. These short breaks abroad were a great source of inspiration. Its odour preferred as the spices of all kinds (cinnamon, ginger, etc.), these territories made him discover some new scents and new tastes, that it wanted to incorporate into his recent creations. It will also launch in September of this year, a new line (" Berbèressence"), very colourful and strongly inspired by his journey. And if Marie-Jeanne all love to travel, it also includes abroad in its activity: including exports its products in Belgium, Holland or Italy.
When I asked him what lies ahead now, after so many way, Marie-Jeanne tells me that she would like that if his son appointed, and continue its activity. "It must always move forward," that is his philosophy. I thank for his availability, and the Lady smiling me, happy to have shared with me, memories, and projects.
