CULTURE The book "Knowledge and power in the Morocco, image of the life of an intellectual of the campaign in the 20th century", his author the American Professor, Mr. Dale f. Eickelman, orientalist and anthropologist, was presented Saturday evening in Marrakech.
Published in English in 1985 before be translated into Arabic by Mohamed Aafif and Mostafa Ouajjani, this opus, professors of 281 pages, highlights the progeny intellectual fire Haj Abderrahmane Mansuri, its social relationships and family and the influence of his brother the magistrate Ahmed Mansuri.
Through this work historical and literary novel, Eickelman focuses also on the socio-economic area 'bzou' context, while providing an overall picture on this broad plain composed of arid land, a natural environment failed to exercise its influence on the personality but also the fate of generations of intellectuals of the region, its traders and farmers.
This book, of which the Arabic version is published in the "malabata" editions also traces the social, political and historical context of the Kingdom since 1912, date of birth of fire Haj Abderrahmane Mansuri until 1985.
In this work, Eickelman is also trying to present the point of view vigilant but also perceptive of the great intellectual on number of events that marked the history of the Morocco during this period.
The book traces and analyses the problems to which encountered the traditional classical culture during this time, with particular emphasis on the influence and the salafiya original teaching institutes.
The author attempts, through the vision of fire Haj Mansuri, trace an implicit image of the passage of a popular Islam in a learned Islam, and to understand the relationship between power, sponsorship, and the links open between school and society.
In a statement to the press at the end of the ceremony of presentation of the book, Mr. Eickelman has indicated that the objective of this work is to allow readers Western as well from Europe that of North America to have a clear idea about the intellectual and scientific bases on which rests the Islamic education, and stimulating in the Moroccan drive some questions about "the perception that the West of the Morocco".
"We have written this book with this ambition to help better understand the role of the religious intellectual in the development of society and the modern world", he said.
In a statement to the MAP, Haj Mohamed El Habib Enassiri Cherkaoui, directed Cherkaouia Moquadem gave an overview on the biography of fire Haj Abderrahmane Mansuri, who was named in 1957 by fire SM the King Mohammed V j. in the town of Bejaâd, noting that the Bills of this end theological scholar are a treasure on local lÎhistoire.

Late Haj Abderrahmane Mansuri was a reference for researchers and scholars of Marrakech and Souss, continued Mr. Ennassiri Cherkaoui, also President of the local Council of the Ulema in Khouribga, noting that this book is a great tribute to the memory of this great intellectual and learned.
Initiated by the Association "Muniya" of Marrakesh to the preservation and promotion of the heritage of the Morocco, this ceremony took place in the presence of une palette of men of letters and eminent personalities and intellectuals.
