SOCIETY The preservation of natural, environmental and material heritage will be a great lever for economic development of the Kingdom, said Wednesday in Marrakech, Mohamed El Faïz, research professor at the University Cadi Ayyad (UCAM).
In an interview with the MAP, in addition to the work of a regional meeting for consultation on the draft of the National Charter for the environment and sustainable development, El Faïz found that "the natural, tangible and intangible heritage is the only area where it has no competitor in the world", noting that it is the responsibility of all of the Ïuvrer for the protection of the environment.
The preservation of natural, environmental and material heritage "is no longer a case of Moroccan home, or region, city or country but this planetary issue", he said.
There, in this sense, emphasis than efforts globally for the protection of the environment and the natural environment, the Morocco could remain aloof to the extent it has a natural and architectural heritage and a world-renowned undeniable heritage, citing for example the city of Marrakech which has been ranked twice and intangible heritage of humanity.
The national environment and sustainable development Charter is an indispensable instrument for the preservation of this rich and diverse heritage, said Mr. El Faïz, noting at the same time a number of environmental problems at the level of the region Marrakech - Tensift - Al Haouz, related to the phenomenon of urbanization (pollution, decline of green space, traffic and urban mobility problems).
He also referred the problem to overexploitation of the water resources of the fact of private practice but also of new activities, claiming for activation of the laws in force and the application of the principle of the polluter-pays principle.
The menu of this meeting will include four workshops focused on the theme "health and environment", "the sustainable preservation of natural environments", "sustainable development" and "the role of local actors in the preservation of the environment".
