CULTURE Participants in a national study on Al Malhoune in Marrakech day have called for the promotion of this art as a cultural and artistic heritage that deserves special attention.

Participants in this meeting, Saturday, by the Association "Fans of the Malhoune" under the theme "Al Malhoune, a heritage at the service of the artistic rebirth in the Morocco", stressed the importance of the creation of a national association of the Malhoune which will ensure the coordination between the associations concerned by this art at the regional and national levels. They have also argued for an increase in the number of associations to promote and preserve the Malhoune, but deploring the situation this art insofar as there are only 22 associations specialized in this field.

Participants, also called to expand the circle of beneficiaries of the different actions and activities undertaken by these associations, while Ïuvrant to consolidate their radiation at the regional and national levels.

Particular interest should be granted to the poets of the art of the Malhoune, its singers and musicians, they estimated. They, on the other hand, called to highlight the role of women in the preservation of the Malhoune and its development, recalling the role of the Moroccan University through the formation of research groups on popular culture in which the Malhoune occupies a place of choice.

Teachers-researchers, they noted, conducted a series of research and theses focusing on Veterans of the Mahoune, stressing the need to promote scientific research in this area, encourage the universities and institutes to develop this art and Ïuvrer for the layman to the generations.

At this meeting, two thematic workshops were formed to discuss the situation of the Malhoune and the Morocco of studies and research for the national heritage.
