EXHIBITION In recent weeks The Carre Eden, the future Mall opening in the centre of Gueliz, has been surrounded by the Exhibition " You and Gueliz". Photographed by Leila Alaoui, the exhibition shows a selection of influential people from Marrakech.

The Exhibition " You and Gueliz" is hosted by photographer Leila Alaoui. The seller of sweets Taf Taf, the general secretary of Majorelle Gardens, Quito Fierro and two servers from Catanzaro have all had their pictures taken accompanied by text and a personal quote. The men and women featured in the exhibition have seen Gueliz, the centre of Marrakech, evolve over many years. They also participated in this recent development to preserve the " soul, life and authenticity of the district".

Leila Alaoui a native of the Red City, is a recognized artist in Morocco, especially in Marrakech were she has exhibited many times. " This exhbition is dedicated to all those who love Gueliz, who live, work and walk around the city and contribute to it's evolvement" she explains.

Leila Alaoui has always been attracted to images, at 18 she flew to New York to study Sociology and film. A meeting with a professor of photography changed her mind to study and concentrate on a career in the art of photography, initially working in New York, she returned to Morocco, her country of origin. Her work in Morocco focuses on her project " No Pasara" highlighting  the problems of young people and illegal immigration.

Leila Alaoui thanks everyone who participated in this exhibition and all the inhabitants of Gueliz. This is a rare exhibition not to be missed!
