DJ Zak: ' My biggest dream was to mix in Theatro' in Marrakech Marrakech Hotels Marrakech riads Marrakech Restaurants

The course

' I was studying in school but always had dreams to become a DJ, i took my first steps with my uncle who was also a DJ and started mixing for school parties and small social events, but my real DJ career started here, in Theatro.'

The meeting

' One evening i met Brice ( the artistic director) he said " tomorrow there is a DJ competition if you want to participate call me", so the next day i called him and he gave me the number of the person responsible for the Corona competition. So i participated with Brice, then we met again and i found myself here. I don't regret any of it.'

Is Theatro still number one?

' The first rule here is to entertain the customers, everyone who visits Theatro all say they are welcomed and love the music. It's a crazy atmosphere here and the goal is to make the customers dance all evening. For music we did some tests, for example if he playes a house track and found that the majority of people where dancing it means that it's a popular choice that night. If we play an R'n'B track and customers are responding, we know that this evening will be more R'n'B than house'.

Light and music, the relationship

' It's a matter of habit now, we play a new song before the opening time of the club, and rehearse with Akhim( the manager). He listens to it and identifies the key moments and the timing.'

His dream

'My biggest dream was to mix in Theatro, when i discovered the club in 2006. I put myself on the path to get here one day, and thank God, i got here. In Morocco i don't mix in any other clubs, abroad my biggest dream is to one day mix in cafe Mambo in Ibiza.'

The story

'We have many laughs here, one evening i mixed with Dj Brice and DJ Kol, we mixed shirtless all night ( laughs) it was fun.'
