CULTURE The third international meetings in places, called "Awaln'art 2009" have taken late Sunday night in Tahanaoute, within the province of Al Haouz, in the presence of a skewer of iconic figures in the worlds of art and culture.

Closing night, which took place in artistic space "Al maquam", was marked by the Organization of a music festival hosted by the great Mâalem Abdellatif El Makhzoumi, molten with the talented flutist, Abdessamad Bousksou, discover, once again, that art and music have no borders and remain an excellent tool for more intercultural exchanges and reconciliation between peoples.

Initiated by the companies "Splinters of the Moon" and "seeds of Sun, in partnership with the Embassy of France, the province of Al Haouz and the Council of the city of Marrakech, these meetings (17-21 June) are intended to be a real window on the international artistic emergence and a meeting point for inevitable between Africa and the rest of the world, shows and performances which draw in the heart of African roots and consolidate more African and Moroccan identity.

In a statement to the MAP on this occasion, Khalid Tamer initiator of these meetings welcomed the success of this new edition, which contributed to the cultural and artistic animation as well of the ochre city as several public squares in the level of the province of Al Haouz.

"This festival, which from year to year, began to acquire its letters of nobility and succeed at their place of choice among the major events organised at the level of this region, was designed to go find the Moroccan artistic creation around the world, while reviving the Kingdom Aboriginal art and heritage"", through performances held in public squares to defend what is happening in Jemâa El Fna square", explained Tamer.

It is said that Awaln'art is an opportunity to correct, to allow the meeting between artists from around the world in rewarding the métissages, meetings between the cultures of Africa, North and South of the Mediterranean and trade in South - South, through support to African and Mediterranean contemporary creation and its creators, it said.

And continue for this third edition, the festival "Awaln'art" continued to be used as space development and promotion of the intangible heritage African and Mediterranean, noting that these meetings work for the exploration of traditional forms of street performance and their synergy with the contemporary creation.

Another quality of this event, he said, is that "Awaln'art" is already a committed event throughout the year in human local development, since it is associated with development strategies, through the development of a region rich of tangible, intangible and natural heritage by its dimensions cultural and artistic contribution to the implementation of the tools necessary for the development of a cultural and rural tourism.

On the next edition, Tamer has indicated that it will be characterized by a large opening of the festival on new artists from other countries, including the Brazil and the Sweden and rich programming and full of novelties, noting that the shows are, for the first time, given to "amezmiz".

It is in this sense that Tamer has announced the opening next October in Marrakech, a Centre for training in acrobatic arts and those of the street which has for mission to train, each year, between 30 and 50 young people selected on the basis of artistic workshops to be held in the popular Marrakech as well as in the neighbouring villages districts.

"By setting in place of this structure, we want to give these old storytellers, and these old acrobats a framework enabling them to transmit their know-how and their arts to young people and, in order to ensure the transmission of this heritage and to contribute to the preservation of our ancestral heritage", he said.

Tamer, moreover, stressed that the training will take place over periods of three weeks, with each time, a Moroccan or foreign player (Africa, Europe, and Latin America) to accompany the young apprentices.

A reminder, this third edition has been the participation of a range of Moroccan and foreign artists from Mali, Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, France, Italy, Lebanon, Spain and Belgium.
